Machine cutting area

The fluid sliding on rails structure of the CNC hot-wire foam cutting machine Mammut enables an expanded cutting area, allowing for 4-meter cuts. This machine easily transitions from industrial work cycles to precision settings for accurate cuts. 

Adaptable structure

The structure of this CNC hot-wire machine can be easily extended due to its accurate rails fixed on the ground, enabling the cutting of expanded polystyrene blocks up to 4500 mm long (upon request, Mammut can be customized to cut EPS blocks up to 6000 mm long). This adaptability makes Mammut suitable for processing both large and small foam shapes with intricate details.

Versatility: Mammut allows the installation of cutting wires with different diameters: 0,25 mm | 0,30 mm | 0,40 mm | 0,50 mm

Multiple movable tabletops

Equipped with 4 sliding marble tabletops with pneumatic locking that can be easily moved along recirculating ball bearing guides. Therefore, it allows for an easy and quick loading of polystyrene blocks, thanks to the rollers placed at the end of each tabletop. Additionally, the cutting process with the wire remains smooth even for large-sized blocks. The tabletops are uniform and perfectly leveled, allowing for precise cutting even for small-sized shapes.

Automatic wire tension system

The CNC hot-wire foam cutting machine Mammut features an advanced “automatic wire tensioner,” a product of Nettuno Sistemi’s extensive research. The Nettuno PC-controlled tensioner enables the cutting wire to achieve the maximum inclination between the axes, without any restrictions. 

Cutting Wire Inclination

By reducing the dimensions of the main structure and using fixed rails on the ground, the machine achieves a higher wire inclination compared to machines with a fixed structure. This high angle of inclination, equivalent to the diagonal of the system, allows for cutting unique conical and tapered EPS shapes that would be challenging to achieve with a standard machine. 

Microprocessor to control the wire temperature

The temperature of the cutting wire is PC-controlled, ensuring that you always have the correct wire temperature as set before starting to cut the foam block. The system maintains the temperature at the same value, even in the event of sudden changes in tension or variations in wire length due to the automatic wire tensioning system. This precise temperature control guarantees consistent and accurate cuts throughout the foam cutting process.

The handheld keypad from Nettuno allows you to perform various operations: jog moving, play / pause, stop, adjust cutting speed, rotate turntable and control the position of axes.

These operations can be performed while staying close to the cutting wire, controlling the machine remotely without using the main control (power station).

The keypad is particularly useful when executing manual moving and cuts of foam blocks, offering convenience and flexibility during the cutting process.

Nettuno Docker: This is a CAM tool integrated with Corel Draw, used for creating 2D/3D models and drawings.

CNC Router

The 3-axis CNC milling router is capable of working on a plane or in combination with the horizontal lathe. By utilizing the rotation of the horizontal lathe and the movement on 3 axes of the router, 360° machining on the material can be achieved. The automated system developed by Nettuno provides the opportunity to attach the accessory directly onto the machine by issuing simple commands from the software. The operator can conduct wire-based turnings for roughing the material and then complete the final details using the CNC milling machine. This ensures a significant advantage in execution times and the realization of 3D shapes.

Multiple wire harp

Multiple wire version of the CNC hot-wire foam cutting machine Mammut allows for simultaneous cutting of a foam block with multiple wires (from 1 to 20 cutting wires each measuring 3100 mm in length), efficiently processing multiple pieces of the same shape in series with just one harp movement through the foam block.

The cutting wires are tensioned by springs when operating with the multiple wire harp, and once the harp is removed, the automatic Nettuno tensioner regulates the wire tension. The distance between the wires is manually adjusted along a metric scale.

This Multiple wire System can work in vertical, horizontal, or oblique positions, making it essential for companies requiring large quantities of the same foam shapes. Experience the efficiency and versatility of Mammut multiple wire in your foam cutting applications.

Brushless motors with absolute encoder: the machine is able to recognize the exact position of the harp (if 90°, 50°, 45° etc.). The advantage is that, in relation of the position of the harp, changes the distance that the harp can cover up and down along the X axis. Main rotating table

The innovative and exclusive system allows for the automatic rotation of an entire block of expanded polystyrene with a length of up to 3000 mm, enabling cutting on all 4 sides of the block. The rotation of the main machine table occurs completely automatically and is managed by the software interface. This system is highly advantageous for the production of styrofoam shapes and profiles that require cuts and grooves on more than one side.

The rotating table can also work in combination with the multi-wire system to increase productivity and the machine's efficiency.

The intelligent cutting wire speed system, Clevel, is an automatic feed rate adjustment (conceived and patented by Nettuno Sistemi) that detects the alignment of the cutting wire and adjust the feed rate (cutting speed) of the axes accordingly. It optimizes the cutting wire speed based on the foam’s different densities being cut by the machine.

Manually setting the correct cutting speed for the CNC cutting machine can be a complex procedure, as the operator must consider various parameters such as cutting wire temperature, diameter, environmental temperature, humidity, expanded polystyrene block’s humidity, styrofoam block density, and possible irregular foam block expansion. Clevel processes all these data automatically and in real-time.

By installing Clevel on the Nettuno Sistemi CNC hot-wire foam cutters, operators can avoid mistakes and achieve higher cutting accuracy. This ensures a more precise cutting process, avoiding inaccuracies that may occur when the foam cutting machine operates without preliminary control of the mentioned parameters and continuous monitoring of the cutting process.

Vertical turntable

The vertical lathe, controlled through the software of the machine, is used for 3D turnings. The EPS block/cylinder is placed vertically, and it can be used in combination with the carver to shape columns or capitals. There is also the possibility of adding 1 to 3 vertical lathes for increased flexibility and productivity.

The carver uses a rigid wire, which is hand-shaped according to specific needs, to create recesses within already shaped forms. Additionally, it can be used in combination with the vertical turntable or the horizontal lathe to create spiral columns, grooved, chiseled, hollow, recessed, furrowed, engraved, and carved shapes, and much more.

The carver is mounted on the machine's axis and thus follows the CAD-designed path. This way, the combination of artisanal precision and CNC technology guarantees unique results and curved models that a traditional hot wire could not otherwise achieve.

Horizontal lathe

Controlled by software, it allows the polystyrene block shaping to obtain 3D models. The block/cylinder is positioned horizontally and machined at 360°. Thanks to this, it is possible to create spiral columns, fluted columns, twisted columns, capitals, and many other three-dimensional objects, even with the help of the carver.

The horizontal lathe, unlike the vertical one, is equipped with a tailstock that allows the polystyrene block to be machined along the entire length of the machine. It is recommended to use it in combination with the carver to create grooves along the trunk of a column.

Extra tabletops

The basic configuration includes 4 sturdy support tables with pneumatic locking on guides, carefully crafted to ensure maximum stability and precision during the cutting operation.

However, recognizing the importance of adapting our product to specific needs, we offer the possibility to add 1 to 3 additional support tables.

These tables, made of milled steel with a marble surface, are designed to provide additional and customized support, allowing for greater flexibility in the arrangement of the material to be cut.
